What is magdalen college like

Formal hall is entirely optional. Magdalen offers accommodation for all years of study. In first year, every student is randomly allocated a room in the Waynflete building or in one of our High Street houses. Both are extremely close to college. In second year, you choose your room by random ballot. As everyone pays the same rate, your room is determined completely randomly. Most second and third years choose to live in college, and you can often choose a room near your friends.

There are some en-suite rooms and plenty of kitchens. Magdalen has a huge variety of societies to get involved in. The Magdalen Players, the college drama society, put on a garden play every summer.

The Stokesley Society also regularly organises discussions with guest speakers. There are three JCR welfare representatives and a team of Peer Supporters who are always on hand to talk about any worries you may have. Our welfare reps also run our Welfare Teas and Welfare Pizza, which give you a chance to forget about work and catch up with friends. The college bar plays host to 3 bops a term. Robert Jacobs D. As an experienced scholar, Dr.

Jacobs will be able to persuade some of the best teachers in Oxford University to tutor these students. He will ensure that these Visiting Students are taught in the normal way by these same highly qualified tutors who teach degree candidates. For more information on Magdalen College, visit www.

The more the College and University know in advance, the better we can support you. The University has a diverse body of students, from a range of backgrounds, who all share key qualities.

If you are enthusiastic about your subject, academically able and self-motivated with a commitment to study, Oxford could be the university for you. You may find it reassuring to get in touch with our JCR undergraduate admissions representative via admissions magdjcr.

We believe in Access and use our resources vigorously to encourage applications from all quarters. We select students only on the basis of their academic merit and aptitude for their chosen subject, irrespective of educational or social background.

The interview is only one part of our selection process, but it is important because it is the time when you meet us and we meet you. So we may conduct part of the interview in a tutorial style to see how well you can respond to analytical questions. The interview also enables us to gauge your enthusiasm for your chosen subject, to assess your ability to think clearly about it, and to make sure that you understand what your intended course involves.

You can find out more about the interview process and how to prepare for it by reading the information given on the University website at: ox. Connect with us. Media Enquiries. Job Vacancies. Things you need to know. Studying Here. As an Undergraduate. Courses We Offer.
