I've never found using "cropped" viewfinders to be limiting in any way. The only time I even think about it is when someone happens to mention it in a thread. It's a non-issue for me. Yes, of course. I suppose I should've clarified, but that was what I meant. Unless I make a point of remembering it, I often forget that I'm not seeing a true representation of the resulting image in my viewfinder with the D Get two Ds for the price of a D?
That said, I love everything about the D8xx except the high MP. Even the 24MP in my D is overkill for me. I never said, I wished I had more MP.
However, I have said, I wish I had the right lighting or the right lens. Sometimes I go through my photos and my 6MP shots from my D50 still impress me, when the lighting and the lens choice was right. I had the D for several years. Loved it! The post-processing was a joy. Then I got the D and I was giddy happy about it. Banding occurred quickly, colors were off, and I sold that thing much more quickly than I anticipated. I'm sure other people's opinions will differ. But to me the D was rushed.
That sensor tech wasn't ready, and the results were funky and strange. The dynamic range was on paper quite good, but in practice I could get the old D to do better. Another thing to think about it is to look up Thom Hogan's old review of the D In it, he discusses some of the issues and things to consider when going with a high-resolution body like that. That may be one of those things that takes time with the new body, but it's something to consider.
Otherwise, it depends on personal taste and tolerance for things. Btw, one camera you should never sell is your D That thing renders beautifully with its kit zooms and exceptionally with most fast primes.

So how do things add up? Is the Nikon D better than the Nikon D or vice versa? The listing below highlights the relative strengths of the two models. If the count of individual advantages bullet points above is taken as a guide, the D is the clear winner of the contest 11 : 4 points. However, the relevance of individual strengths will vary across photographers, so that you might want to apply your own weighing scheme to the summary points when reflecting and deciding on a new camera.
A professional wildlife photographer will view the differences between cameras in a way that diverges from the perspective of a family photog, and a person interested in architecture has distinct needs from a sports shooter. Hence, the decision which camera is best and worth buying is often a very personal one. How about other alternatives? Do the specifications of the Nikon D and the Nikon D place the cameras among the top in their class?
In any case, while the specs-based evaluation of cameras can be instructive in revealing their potential as photographic tools, it says little about, for example, the shooting experience and imaging performance of the D and the D in practical situations.
At times, user reviews, such as those published at amazon , address these issues in a useful manner, but such feedback is on many occasions incomplete, inconsistent, and unreliable.
This is why expert reviews are important. As can be seen, the professional reviewers agree in many cases on the quality of different cameras, but sometimes their assessments diverge, reinforcing the earlier point that a camera decision is often a very personal choice. The review scores listed above should be treated with care , though. The ratings are only valid when referring to cameras in the same category and of the same age.
A score, therefore, has to be seen in close connection to the price and market introduction time of the camera, and comparisons of ratings among very different cameras or across long time periods have little meaning. Also, please note that some of the review sites have changed their methodology and reporting over time.
